Comprehensive Assessment of current concerns

This is typically completed over the first 2 visits. A detailed history is taken to gather pertinent information, followed by a physical examination, to assess the probable root causes of your symptoms and signs. The first visit is an hour long, and the second visit is 45 to 60 minutes long, depending on complexity. Follow up visits are 30 to 45 minutes depending on need.

Testing: Appropriate testing is ordered after the first or the second visit. Some examples of tests that are commonly ordered:

Blood work: Vitamin levels, Iron status, Thyroid panel, Complete blood count, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel / Quest Diagnostics or Mission Lab Express

IgG Food Map and IgG Yeast/Candida / Dried Blood Spot / Great Plains Lab

Comprehensive Stool Analysis / Stool samples / Great Plains Lab

OR 

GI Effects / Stool samples / Genova Diagnostics

Neurotransmitter test /  Urine / Doctors Data/Labrix, or Sanesco

Adrenal hormones / Saliva / Doctors Data/Labrix or Sanesco

Hair analysis (toxic metals and nutrient minerals) / Hair / Doctors Data

Insurance coverage for tests: Neurotransmitter and Adrenal hormone tests are completely covered by NC Medicaid and Medicare. Blood work is typically covered by most insurances. Most other special lab tests are not covered. These tests usually consist of take-home kits that come with Fedex envelopes ready for mailing.

Turn Around Time for test results: Blood work is usually ready in a few days. Special kit tests take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks for results to be available to me. Hair analysis turn around time is one week.

Diet changes:

A general healthy clean diet will be discussed. Specific changes that may need to be made following assessment and testing will also be discussed in detail.

Supplements:

Appropriate supplements may be recommended as needed.

Mind body relaxation approaches:

Breathing techniques, lifestyle modifications and other approaches will be addressed also.

Insurance Note: Our office does have the availability to bill certain insurances for some of the procedures listed above, but please keep in mind insurance may not cover all of the costs associated with being seen in our office.
